New Crowns (Case #2) PDF Print E-mail

Image
Chris with the old crowns. The tooth length is too short, resulting in a lot of gum showing when he smiled. The central 2 crowns were made pf porcelain fused to metal, resulting in dark margins showing at the gum line. This happens because the metal that the porcelain is fused to does not allow light to penetrate through the tooth. The natural color of the canine teeth was too yellow.

Chris had also worn down his molar teeth due to his habit of grinding his teeth during sleep. The teeth were restored using composite material.

Crownlenghthening (gum surgery) was done, and few days after the gum surgery the added tooth length is visible above the margins of the old crowns.

Temprorary crowns were made to wear during the 3 month waiting period. Although the gums heal within days after the surgery, it is advisable to wait 3 months before the new crowns are made.

This picture shows the new all-porcelain crowns (6 front teeth) immediately after cementation. There is a slight dark triangle between the 2 central teeth which will fill beautifully after a few weeks.
